Brian Selander is the Band Director at Frazee-Vergas Public Schools in Frazee, Minnesota. His duties there include teaching 5th and 6th-grade band, lessons, Junior High Band, Concert Band, and Symphonic Band. He also directs the pep band at fall and winter sporting events as well as directs the Frazee-Vergas High School Marching Band in summer parades.
He is originally from New York Mills, Minnesota and attended North Dakota State University, where he received his undergraduate degree in Music Education. During his time at NDSU, he was in the trumpet section of the marching band and also served as a trumpet section leader, Drum Major, and band president. He was also an active member of TBS.
Since graduating in 2010, Brian has continued to help the GSMB in many ways. He helps rewrite the drill formations for the pregame show and helps teach it during camp week. He also writes drill for shows during the season. He can also be found on gamedays assisting the band in any way possible.
This past summer, Brian completed his Master's Degree in Music from Kansas State University. Through his busy schedule, he finds time to play in area ensembles, mostly including the Lakes Area Community Concert Band in Detroit Lakes, MN, where he plays trumpet or tuba.
